There will be a crowd in downtown St. Joseph Friday to mark May Day with a rally.

The Berrien County Democratic Party says the “Workers over Billionaires May Day Together We Stand” demonstration will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and starting at the corner of Main Street and Park Street.

The event is being held along with May Day Strong demonstrations planned all over the country. Other events planned in the region include rallies in Paw Paw, Saugatuck, and Michigan City, Indiana.

Organizers say workers, students, and families will rally, march, and take action across the country to demand a nation that puts workers over billionaires, with many refusing business as usual for the day by avoiding school, work, and shopping. They also call on all demonstrators to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree, stressing a commitment to nonviolent action.
