The Lincoln Township Board of Trustees is looking for someone to fill a vacancy following the resignation of one of its members.

Trustees said on Tuesday that member Amy Pheifer has submitted a letter of resignation due to her family’s plans to move out of state. Now someone needs to be found to fill the rest of her term.

Township Clerk Michael Brown tells potential appointees they’ll be a part of a seven-member board that oversees the budget, the personnel, and the departments.

They guide the direction of the township,” Brown said. “So we’re looking for someone interested in local government and serving their community. We’ll take letters of interest. Contact one of the board members because we’ll be making a decision probably at the June meeting.”

Brown said Tuesday the township has 40 days to appoint someone, or the county will hold an election.

Letters of interest from residents who’d like to serve can be submitted to the township office. Supervisor Glenn Youngstedt said he’s already spoken with one interested individual.

It was noted Tuesday that village of Stevensville residents are eligible to serve on the township board because they are also township residents.
