MLB – Yankee fans ejected after one pries ball out of Mookie Betts’ glove at World Series
Two fans at Yankee Stadium were ejected from Game 4 of the World Series after one pried a foul ball out of the glove of Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts on Tuesday night. Betts leaped at the wall in foul territory and initially caught Gleyber Torres’ pop up in the first inning, but a fan in the first row with a gray Yankees’ road jersey grabbed Betts’ glove with both hands and pulled the ball out. Another fan grabbed Betts’ non-glove hand. Betts reacted angrily, and Torres was immediately called out on fan interference.

NHL – Utah Hockey Club acquires defenseman Olli Maatta from the Detroit Red Wings
The Utah Hockey Club has acquired defenseman Olli Maatta from the Detroit Red Wings for a third-round pick in the 2025 NHL draft. The move fills a major need after Sean Durzi and John Marino were sidelined long term. The 30-year-old Maatta is a two-time Stanley Cup champion from his time with Pittsburgh. The draft pick was previously acquired by Utah from the New York Rangers. Utah was formerly known as the Arizona Coyotes before being sold to new ownership and relocated to Salt Lake City.

PWHL – Pro Women’s Hockey League says it could add as many as two teams for 2025-26
Expansion is on the table for the six-team Professional Women’s Hockey League, and executives aren’t placing limitations on which North American markets they’ll consider in a bid to add as many as two franchises for the 2025-26 season. All North American markets are being considered, with PWHL official Amy Scheer telling The Associated Press the league has targeted more than 20 communities to be issued requests for proposals for expansion by next week. And that doesn’t include additional markets that might approach the league for consideration. Among the potential U.S. expansion candidates are Detroit and Pittsburgh, where the PWHL hosted neutral-site games during its inaugural season last year.

Lonzo Ball, who returned to the Chicago Bulls this season after a lengthy absence because of leg injuries, will miss at least 10 days with a sprained right wrist. Ball was hurt Monday in the first quarter of the Bulls’ 126-123 victory in Memphis. He went on to play 18 minutes in the game, finishing with six points and six assists. The Bulls said Tuesday that the guard would be evaluated again in 10 days. NCAAFB – Big Ten taking no disciplinary action for skirmish at end of Michigan, MSU game
The Big Ten announced it will take no disciplinary action in connection with the postgame altercation on the field at the end of the Michigan-Michigan State football game. Michigan State athletic director Alan Haller had asked the Big Ten to review what happened as time ran out in Michigan’s 24-17 win on Saturday. Michigan tight end Colston Loveland and Michigan State defensive end Anthony Jones pushed and shoved to start the skirmish. The Big Ten said video showed players from both sides on the ground and surrounded by so many individuals that both players were completely obscured from view.

NCAAFB – Michigan QB Jack Tuttle announces retirement following a 5th concussion
Michigan quarterback Jack Tuttle is retiring from football following a fifth concussion. Tuttle made the announcement on social media and pointed to a string of injuries that have plagued his college career. He says he never fully recovered from ligament damage in his throwing elbow and adds that the latest concussion made him realize he needs “to start prioritizing my health.” Tuttle signed with Utah out of high school and then spent four seasons at Indiana before landing at Michigan in 2023. He finishes his career with 1,337 yards passing, seven touchdowns and eight interceptions. Tuttle says he plans on pursuing a role in coaching.

NFL – Colts benching Anthony Richardson to start Joe Flacco at quarterback vs. Vikings
The Indianapolis Colts are benching Anthony Richardson to start Joe Flacco at quarterback on Sunday at Minnesota, two people with knowledge of the decision tell The Associated Press. Coach Shane Steichen said Monday he was evaluating whether Richardson would remain the starter. The fourth pick in the 2023 NFL draft was 10 of 32 passing and got sacked five times in the Colts’ 23-20 loss to Houston over the weekend. Richardson also drew outside criticism for taking himself out of the game for a play because he said he was tired. Flacco started two games for Indianapolis earlier this season when Richardson was out with a right hip injury.

NFL – Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs out for season after tearing right ACL
Houston Texans receiver Stefon Diggs will miss the rest of the season after tearing the ACL in his right knee Sunday. Coach DeMeco Ryans made the announcement Tuesday, calling Diggs being out a huge loss. Diggs suffered the non-contact injury in the third quarter of Houston’s win over the Colts on Sunday. He was running a route and pulled up and grabbed at his right knee before falling to the ground.
