Thursday kicked off the busy Memorial Day holiday weekend.

AAA of Michigan’s Adrienne Woodland says nearly 1.3 million Michigan residents are expected to be traveling 50 miles or more from home.

Definitely if you’re planning to fly this holiday weekend, you’re going to expect to see busy airports and of course if you’re planning to hit the roadway, expect for heavy traffic on the roadways this holiday weekend,” Woodland said.

Woodland says Thursday and Friday were expected to be the busiest travel days as people head to their destinations. It’ll also be busy Sunday and Monday with people returning home.
