Corewell Health is opening a new facility in Dowagiac.

Corewell says the opening of Corewell Health Primary Care Dowagiac supports the system’s efforts to improve health, prevent chronic diseases, and reduce health disparities in rural communities.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, those living in rural communities have a higher risk of early death than urban residents from heart disease, cancer, chronic lower respiratory disease, and stroke. Many of those deaths are preventable, and increased health risks can be reduced through the medical services offered by a primary care doctor.

Corewell Health Primary Care Dowagiac is located at 520 Main Street, and the facility will open its doors to new patients on May 29.

There will be an open house on June 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. when anyone in the community can come and tour the office. It will provide preventative services, chronic condition management, and treatment for a variety of health issues.
