Lake Michigan College is planning a 12-week summer program for high school graduates to help them be ready for college life this year.

The college says the Red Hawks Rise Summer Bridge Program is free and will feature college readiness guidance, assessment, career exploration, and math, reading, and writing instruction.

The program will be offered in June, July, and August and run each day from 8:30 to 12:30. Free breakfast is provided.

Red Hawks Rise co-coordinator Beth Lehner says students will take part in introductory college knowledge sessions, explore career options through mini-tours, and become comfortable with admissions and financial aid. She adds adds not every student is prepared for college, especially coming out of COVID, and Red Hawks Rise is intended to level the playing field.
