The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity has announced the recipients of Young Professionals grants totaling $3 million around the state to provide youth and young adults with an introduction to the world of work. The training will include on-site, hybrid, and virtual career exploration and preparation activities.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer says the Young Professionals initiative will provide more career and educational opportunities to young adults. It supports those ages 14 to 24 who face barriers on the path to employment by exposing them to career and educational opportunities, like obtaining work experience or earning an in-demand short-term training certificate.

Michigan Works of Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren Counties is getting $215,000 to run the program in southwest Michigan.
