The South Haven and Van Buren County Convention And Visitors Bureau is hosting a celebration Thursday as part of the 2023 National Travel and Tourism Week. Director Jennifer Sistrunk tells us they’ve been selected by Pure Michigan to be one of five sites for travel celebrations throughout the week. She says travel is critical to South Haven.

“Right here in South Haven, the travel and tourism industry is a huge economic driver to our community, with over 1.5 million trips made in 2022, and in 2021, tourism poured over $148 million into the community and employed more than 2,000 workers here in South Haven,” Sistrunk said.

The celebration today will take place at the Huron Street Pavilion. They’ll have six food trucks, live music, and a live recording and webcast of Under The Radar. The Food Truck Frenzy opens at noon and a DJ will start performing at the same time. Live music from beach rockers Nautic Bound starts at 5. At 7 p.m., Dave Lorenz of Travel Michigan and Tom Daldin of Under the Radar will interview stars of South Haven’s travel and tourism industry for a live webcast. Everyone’s invited and the event is free.
