Michigan Works is planning a Young Adult Resource Fair in Benton Harbor this month. Mary Morphey with Kinexus tells us they’ll have information on training, education, and finding a job for anyone age 14 to 24 looking to get started.

“There are just so many different things available to adults in our communities, and so we wanted to host a resource fair that brings all of those resources together in one place,” Morphey said. “We know transportation can sometimes be a barrier for folks as well as childcare, and so this is an great opportunity for everyone to go to this one stop place and they can get all of the resources in one location.”

Partners on hand will include the Bridge Academy, the Michigan Works Adult Education Program, YouthBuild, community colleges, the National Guard, the U.S. Army, and church groups. Morphey says the event will be ideal for someone with an idea of what goals they’d like to pursue, but have some barriers in the way. The Young Adult Resource Fair will point them in the right direction to overcome those barriers. The event will be May 19 from 12 to 4 p.m. at Dwight P. Mitchell City Center Park in Benton Harbor.
