K9 helps Cass County deputies catch attempted murder suspect

An attempted murder suspect out of Indiana is in police custody following a chase with Cass County sheriff’s deputies on Monday. The Cass County Sheriff’s Department says it was notified around 9:30 p.m. of a chase that had started in Elkhart, Indiana and gone into Cass County. The chase continued for about 13 miles in Cass County through Cassopolis and into LaGrange Township until the suspect’s vehicle was disabled by police stop sticks near some woods. The suspect then ran off into the woods and was found by police K9 Neera hiding in some underbrush. The name of the suspect has not yet been released. Assisting in the chase were the Elkhart City Police Department, the Edwardsburg Police Department, the Cassopolis Police Department, the Pokagon Tribal Police Department, and the Pokagon Fire Department.
