Flick Pick is a podcast about movies. In today’s episode, Andrew Green reviews Bad Axe, which is a documentary about a restaurant in the small Michigan town of Bad Axe.
This movie is on the shortlist to be nominated for Best Documentary Feature at this year’s Academy Awards. It can be rented online through multiple services, including Amazon Prime. In it, the Siev family struggles to run their restaurant amid the COVID shutdown and rising racial tensions both nationally and in the town of Bad Axe.
Fun fact: Andrew used to live in Bad Axe and he would eat at the very restaurant that this movie is about. Does this make Andrew biased and more likely to enjoy the film? You bet it does! Does this mean that Andrew is probably not the right person to be reviewing the movie? Yes!
