Firefighters are continuing to battle a wildfire at Isle Royale National Park in the Upper Peninsula. Supervisory Park Ranger Chris Amidon says it broke out Saturday and they dropped 4,000 gallons of water on it from a plane. He says the park is busy this time of year.

“Relatively quickly, rangers were out in the park closing trails and alerting backpackers and hikers and campers in the park, and we feel confident we were able to contact and route folks who were affected by this,” Amidon said. “To date, there’s been no reported injuries.”

Amidon says a ten man crew of firefighters is coming from Minnesota to help fight the fire. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
