Southwestern Michigan College President Joe Odenwald has received a positive performance review from the SMC Board of Trustees. During a meeting this week, the board gave Odenwald what Chair Thomas Jerdon described as an A+. Jerdon said during the COVID pandemic, Odenwald has “managed the institution with tremendous financial responsibility, stewarding the taxpayers’ resources with utmost care.” He says the SMC president has been transparent while growing the college. Each trustee anonymously and individually completed a questionnaire that rated Odenwald in six different categories. They were operations, leadership skills, communications, board relations, internal relations, and external relations.
