Robert Lee Finch made a peaceful transition from earth to a heavenly home on November 18, 2020, following a long illness.

Robert was born July 8, 1937, to the union of Mack Finch and Trullar Pascal in Paducah, KY. The family relocated to Benton Harbor MI when Robert was three years old.

Robert graduated from Benton Harbor High school in 1956 and served his country in the United States Armed Forces. He then furthered his education by graduating from Michigan Barber College and later becoming a Master Barber.

As a young man, Robert developed an entrepreneurial spirit. He was one of the first to open a Black-owned business the Dollar Man Barber Shop. Robert owned and operated two barbershops in Benton Township where he cut hair for 55 years until which time his health forced him to retire.

Robert’s other business pursuits included a partnership in the family business Finch Funeral Home.

Robert always had a creative spirit which he expressed in his smart dapper dress and styling hair. He later used these same skills when he developed an interest in Botany and began carving shrubbery into animal shapes.

Robert was a member of the American Legion 410 post and was a member of The Old Timers Club of Benton Harbor.
Everyone in Benton Harbor knew Robert. He had an extremely likable manner and would strike up a conversation with anyone. Robert enjoyed traveling and did so both domestically and internationally.

Robert married the love of his life, Barbara Butler, in 1960. To that union two sons were born, Robert Lee (Tim) Finch II and William Jeffery Finch.

Robert is survived by his wife Barbara Finch; sons Robert Lee (Tim) (Angie) Finch II and Robin (Alecia) Lee; Special brother-in-law Larry (Jeannie) Midgett; grandchildren Tiffany S. Finch, Robert Lee (Bobby) Finch III, Jaylin Lee, Davion Lee, Devin Lee, Jaquan Lee; great-grandson Elijah Royce Denmam; special cousins K.
