The United Way of Southwest Michigan and Meijer are teaming up to provide Thanksgiving meals to local families this month. United Way spokesperson Jennifer Tomshack tells WSJM News Operation Thanksgiving is about making the holiday better for those in need.
“This is the third year in a row that we’ve partnered on this fantastic project to provide 150 Thanksgiving food baskets to those in need of holiday food assistance in Berrien County, Tomshack said.
The Meijer stores in Benton Harbor and Stevensville will provide the materials for the meal baskets, along with the volunteer force needed to pack them. The United Way provides the means of distributing the baskets. Families interested in applying for the Thanksgiving assistance can do so by calling 211. Drive through distribution will take place November 21 at Kinexus in Benton Harbor.
