Edwin Baker, 78, of Benton Harbor, MI passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020 at his home.

Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Due to COVID-19 and in respect of social distancing, masks will be required. Following visitation there will be a procession to the St. Joseph Township Fire Department Station #2 for a last call followed by a graveside service at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Edwin was born July 22, 1942 in St. Joseph, MI to Frank & Dorothy (Sauerbier) Baker. He attended St. Joseph High School and graduated from Benton Harbor Adult Education. On January 22, 1968 he married June Dansfield in Valdosta, GA.
Edwin worked for the St. Joseph-Benton Harbor Joint Waste Water Treatment Plant for over 30 years. Edwin also served on the St. Joseph Township Fire Department Station #2 from 1983 to present where he served as Safety Officer. In his spare time, Edwin enjoyed fishing, camping, listening to country music and Elvis and most of all spending time with his family and friends.

Edwin is survived by his wife of 52 years of marriage June Baker; son Tom (Sue) Holland; daughter Jayme (Paul) Peters; grandson Corey Holland; granddaughters Melissa Holland and Khristina (Chris) Castetter; three step-grandchildren Elizabeth (Brain) Dwan; Jennifer Stevens and David (Becca) Hamlin; one great grandchild; eight step-great grandchildren; brothers John Baker, William (Connie) Baker, Earl “Tom” (Judy) Baker and James (Marcia) Baker; sister Rose (Butch) Harris; many nieces & nephews; and special neighbors John (Marie) Heim. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Frank Baker.
