High winds are battering Southwest Michigan right before the Thanksgiving holiday.

The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning for the area Wednesday, predicting gusts upwards of 50 miles per hour and difficult travel situations.

On Lake Michigan, waves up to 13 feet were predicted, adding to growing concerns about shoreline erosion along coastal properties.

Widespread power outages are also being reported, with the entire city of South Haven losing power Wednesday due to downed lines.

The warning is set to expire at 9 p.m. Wednesday night.
