Detroit Doctors Perform Double Lung Transplant On Teen

Doctors at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit say they have successfully performed what they believe to be the first double-lung transplant on a person with irreparable damage from vaping. The patient is a teenage male whose lungs completely ceased functioning. Dr. Victor Coba says the young man has a long road ahead.

“The patient is recovering well. It takes months to fully recover from bilateral lung transplant,” Dr. Coba told reporters.

The surgery is believed to be the first done on someone with irreparable damage from vaping. The teen had complete lung failure and doctors say he would have died without the transplant. The young man and his family have asked to remain anonymous, but want the story out as a warning to other users of e-cigarettes.
