GVSU Economist: U.S. Economy Posting Gains For Now

The latest snapshot of the economy from Grand Valley State University economist Dr. Brian Long finds the world economy continuing to slow, and Long says the U.S. will eventually be drawn into the slowdown.

“The European economy is negative, and we’ve got a lot of countries around the world including Japan and China that are showing negative numbers,” says Long. “In fact, the United States is one of the few countries that’s posting anything that begins to resemble positive numbers right now.”

Long tells the Michigan News Network that in west Michigan, the pace of the industrial economy returned to a very modest growth rate after a dip last month.
