Kent County Sheriff’s Department reserve deputy Matt Garbarino has completed his run across Michigan to honor fallen police officers. Garbarino started the Run Across Michigan for Fallen Officers on Friday in Detroit, and wrapped it up Monday at the Berrien County Law Enforcement Memorial in St. Joseph. It’s the second year in a row the St. Joseph High School graduate completed the run to raise awareness about the men and women who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Garbarino received police escorts through much of his run over the weekend and on Monday. A ceremony awaited him as he arrived in St. Joe Monday afternoon. Mayor Mike Garey saluted Garbarino .

“Thank you for your passion and your commitment to make sure that we never forget those fallen officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and the loved ones they left behind,” Garey said.

Garbarino received an honorary St. Joseph street sign with his name on it for his efforts. The final day took him from Paw Paw to St. Joe.
