Gas prices in the state stand at an average of $2.27 a gallon according to GasBuddy, with Triple-A Michigan noting it’s the lowest they’ve been for nearly a year and a half. However, those prices are on the rise this afternoon. Triple-A spokeswoman Nancy Cain says changes are on the horizon globally.
“OPEC and Russia are meeting Thursday to talk about cutting production,” says Cain. “Cutting back production would theoretically increase the costs (at the pump).”
The lowest prices in the area as of Tuesday afternoon are in South Haven at $1.97, with Bangor as low as $1.98. However, prices have jumped to as high as $2.39 in Berrien Springs, Benton Harbor and Stevensville.
