December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month and the Van Buren County Sobriety Court is entering its second operational year. Rachel Lindley is the Specialty Courts Administrator, tells us about the Sobriety Court.

“Van Buren County’s Sobriety Court is a 12 to 24 month program that targets non-violent drunk and drugged driving offenders, specifically OWUI seconds and OWUI thirds,” Lindley said.

The Van Buren County Sobriety Court is voluntary and part of probation. The program is intensive with structure, treatment, drug testing, alcohol monitoring and interlock devices.  A graduation ceremony is planned for Monday at the Van Buren District Court West in South Haven. The public is invited to attend.
