U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow and GOP Senate candidate John James highlighted differences between them on healthcare when they met for debate. James is a staunch Trump backer who says Michigan needs new blood in the U.S. Senate. John James says here’s his approach on healthcare.

“We need to have a market based, patient-centered approach that must take care of pre-existing conditions. We need to have something where individuals and doctors have the power, not the federal government and insurance companies.”

Senator Stabenow says the Affordable Care Act is a market-based, patient-centered healthcare plan that covered pre-existing conditions, but James supported Trump and Republicans in repeated efforts to kill it. Stabenow says James would have cost hundreds of thousands of Michiganders their healthcare.

“My opponent stood with the President and others – over and over again he spoke out saying that it should be repealed and that we should gut our current healthcare system that covers people with pre-existing conditions.”

On infrastructure James says…

“We need to make sure that our infrastructure is fit. And we need to make sure for the long term that we have a plan to maintain it so that we’re not in the same situation again.”

Stabenow says she recently got a big infrastructure bill passed to rebuild the Soo Locks.

“This is the top infrastructure challenge for this state and I’ve been able to get this passed this last week. And now we’re gonna move forward and build it with tens of thousands of jobs.”

Stabenow says Trump’s tariffs are costing Michigan jobs and hurting state farmers. James supports Trump’s tariffs. Stabenow says Trump’s trade policies have disrupted Michigan’s economy. James backs Trump on trade but wants to see it done quickly.
