A major project to repair a 300-foot culvert on Red Arrow Highway in Chikaming Township is being delayed. Area businesses have convinced the Berrien County Road Commission to push back the start of the work until August 15, pending a ground penetrating radar scan of the area along the existing culvert. That will be done to see if the road will remain stable until later in the summer, and the new sections are being made now. The road commission had planned to shut down Red Arrow Highway in that area for the entire summer for the work, but businesses said if that happened, they would suffer severe economic consequences.
