State Police: Body Of Eike Krebs Found

The body of 23-year-old Eike Krebs of St. Joseph has been found along the Lake Michigan shore in Hagar Township. Krebs had been missing since November 19, and had been reported missing the next morning. He disappeared off the north pier at Tiscornia Park with 24-year-old Brandi Mannino of Watervliet, whose body was found on November 20. Searches for Krebs’ body had been undertaken by the Berrien County Sheriff Department’s Dive Team as recently as Thursday, December 17.

Krebs’ body was discovered around 4:20 p.m. Saturday by a resident of Hagar Township. While police are confident it is the body of the missing man, further tests will be done by the Berrien County Medical Examiner’s office.

A memorial was held for Krebs on Friday, December 4 at The Chapel on Washington Avenue in St. Joseph.

Eike was born May 28, 1992 in St. Joseph to Bernd & Marie-Anne (Wolff) Krebs. He graduated from St. Joseph High School Class of 2011 where he was a member of the swim team and played the trumpet in the band. He attended The Chapel with his family. Eike lived in Switzerland the year of 2013 and served in the Swiss Military Service from May through December of that year. He was currently employed at Meijer in Stevensville since January of this year.

Eike is survived by his parents Bernd & Mari Krebs of St. Joseph; his brothers-Bjorn Krebs, a student of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Lars Krebs of St. Joseph; his grandparents-Helmut & Elfrieda Krebs of Coloma, Hans-Martin & Ruth Wolff of Fulda, Germany; and numerous extended family members in the USA, Germany and Switzerland. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Rosette Wolff.
