NBA – Bickerstaff says Pistons will learn from their blowout loss in Game 7
The stunning turnaround season for the Detroit Pistons ended Sunday night with a harsh reminder of how difficult the final step can be. After winning 60 games and earning the top seed in the Eastern Conference, the Pistons were overwhelmed at home by the Cleveland Cavaliers, who rolled to a 125-94 victory in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Detroit, which forced the deciding game with a road win Friday night, never found its footing offensively and struggled to match Cleveland’s physicality and pace from the opening tip. The Pistons shot just 35.3% from the floor, were outscored 58-34 in the paint and trailed by as many as 35 points in the second half.

The defensive back is headed to Ann Arbor, where he’ll play under first-year coach Kyle Whittingham. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound rising senior will be part of the 2027 class. Woodson picked the Wolverines over several other schools, including Florida St, Mississippi, Texas A&M, Iowa State and Kentucky, according to ESPN. Golf – Aaron Rai runs away with the PGA Championship
Aaron Rai has become the first English-born player in more than a century to capture the PGA Championship. Rai, who dreamed of being a Formula 1 driver until he turned to golf, was three shots behind and approaching the turn at Aronimink Golf Club when he delivered a performance worthy of a major champion. He made a 40-foot eagle putt on the par-5 ninth during a stretch when he one-putted seven straight greens. Then he holed a birdie putt of some 70 feet across the 17th green for the clincher. The 31-year-old Rai is the first player of Indian heritage to win a major. He closed with a 5-under 65.
Indy500 – Alex Palou starts his Indianapolis 500 title from the pole
Alex Palou had his best qualifying attempt on his final four-lap run Sunday and took his second career Indianapolis 500 pole with an average speed of 232.248 mph. He’s the first defending champion to claim the No. 1 starting spot since 2010. Palou also is the only starter on this year’s traditional 33-car starting grid with a qualifying average topping 232 mph. Alexander Rossi will start a career-best second after going 231.990. He’ll start between Palou and Team Penske driver David Malukas on the front row. Malukas went 231.877. But he finished the final round of qualifying at 231.375 and will start fourth.
Indy500 – IndyCar penalizes 2 cars for rules violations by putting them at the back
IndyCar penalized drivers Caio Collet and Jack Harvey for making unapproved changes to their cars for Sunday’s Indianapolis 500 qualifying. Both cars will now start in the final two spots of the 33-car starting grid in next weekend’s race. Post-qualifying technical inspection revealed the rules violations, IndyCar said in a statement. The teams can appeal. Collet, a rookie with A.J. Foyt Enterprises, and Harvey, a veteran with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, also will forfeit their pit positions. And Collet will lose the three points he accumulated for making the 12-car pole shootout to Scott Dixon and Rinus Veekay.

His No. 11 Toyota finished 0.887 seconds ahead of Briscoe’s No. 19 to earn the $1 million prize. It’s the third consecutive win on the 1-mile oval for Hamlin, who won points races at the Monster Mile in 2024 and ’25.
