Scott B. Carango, 61, of Lawrence, passed away on Thursday evening, April 16, 2026, at Corewell Lakeland Hospital in Saint Joseph, Michigan.
Born on February 4, 1965, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Scott was the son of the late John H. Carango Jr. and Jeannette M. (Clee) Carango. He later made his home in Michigan and was a proud graduate of Portage Northern High School, class of 1983.
Scott will be remembered most for his infectious smile and easygoing sense of humor that could brighten any room. He had a way of making people feel comfortable, often lifting others up with a joke, a story, or simply his presence. Whether spending time with family or sharing laughs with friends, Scott valued connection and lived life with a lighthearted spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
At the center of Scott’s life was his love for those closest to him. He shared a deep and devoted bond with the love of his life, Kelli Ridenour, and took great pride in his children, Haley Carango and Cory Ridenour. Time spent with them meant everything to him.
He is also survived by his siblings, Troy (Linda) Carango, Keith (Jennifer) Carango, Tracey (Brian) Rhodes, and Nicole (Daniel) Duff, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will all carry his memory forward.
Scott will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.
A service to celebrate Scott’s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 23, at Clark Chapel – Starks Family Funeral Homes, 405 Center St, Dowagiac, where friends may visit with her family from 1:30 PM until the time of service. Rev. Nathan Wilder of Calvary Bible Church will officiate.
