Coming up later this month will be Comedy For A Cause, a fundraising event for Caring Connection in Benton Harbor.
Caring Connection CEO Robin McGinnis tells us this will be the third annual Comedy for a Cause, featuring some talent out of Chicago.
“We’re going to have four different comedians, a full dinner donated by some wonderful restaurants in the Berrien County area, we are going to have a live auction, we’re going to have wonderful raffle gifts,” McGinnis said.
The evening will feature the comedic stylings of Dwayne Kennedy, Lindsay Porter, Elaine Golden, and Jan Slavin, all Chicago favorites.
McGinnis says although the event will be a hilarious affair, it’s all for a serious cause — raising funds for the domestic violence shelter, which has seen a funding decrease.
“We lost over $100,000 this fiscal year in funding, and so we are running at a serious deficit. And we are an important program for Berrien County with a 23 bed shelter, an emergency shelter for those who experienced domestic violence.”
McGinnis says the Empowerment Center is always in use and it needs support.
The Comedy For A Cause fundraiser will be April 23 at Hidden Pointe in Benton Harbor with doors opening at 6 p.m. Tickets are available now online.
