Steve passed on to his eternal life in Christ Jesus on March 24, 2026 after a brief illness. Steve was born to Frank and Doris Cerny in South Haven and was a lifelong resident.

Steve enjoyed muscle cars and driving his red ’69 Chevy Cutlass, as well as a variety of cars or trucks in earlier years. Some of his favorite childhood memories were of he and his brother, Bob, riding their bikes to the old Murphy’s store or Radio Shack and spending their allowance on car model kits then assembling them together at the dining room table. These past few years he settled in to being “Papa” and driving the grandkids to and from school. He, along with Bob, have also been famous within the family for referring to the old “Andy Griffith” show and remembering many of the lines. There have been many happy family get togethers reminiscing about these simpler times.

Steve and Nancy were married on March 27,2015, exactly 5 years after their first “blind date”. They had 16 very happy years together. (LUD2- their inside joke). Steve and Nancy enjoyed traveling to Northport Michigan annually to take in the fall colors. They also enjoyed countless hours sitting “out back” talking, laughing and taking in the beauty of the property that God so graciously provided for them. He cherished time with family and friends all throughout his life.

Left to lovingly remember him are his wife, and most devoted fan, Nancy. Two chosen daughters, Katie Aleman-Cloud (Aaron Cloud) and Sarah Aleman. Five much loved grandchildren also survive: Ryder, River, Roan, Jolene and Joaquin. Daphne, his faithful canine companion will miss him so very much.

His siblings will hold him in their hearts forever. Dale (Ann)Cerny, Linda Wadsworth, Teresa (Richard) Bodfish, Janet Casselman, Kathy (Ken) Maxwell, his brother and best friend, Bob (Sara) Cerny, and brother-in-law, John Sila and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Rick Cerny, and a sister, Sheila Sila and brother-in-law Dan Casselman.

Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date.
