
Selma Ann “Sally” Holmes, 93, of Stevensville, passed away Monday, March 16, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday March 28, 2026 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit with the Family from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Friday March 27, 2026 with the Rosary recited at 5:45 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Sally’s name may be made to the Michigan Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Association. Sally was born August 23, 1932 in Highland Park, Michigan to Hassan & Nassas Mooahesh. She graduated from high school in Highland Park, Class of 1950. On July 16, 1954 she married Wendell Eugene Holmes. After moving to the area, she and her husband owned and operated North Shore Inn in Benton Harbor from 1971 through 1985.
Sally was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph and a former member of Stevensville American Legion Post #568 Auxiliary. Her Family was most important to her, she was very involved with her children’s activities as they were growing up, and she continued that with her grandchildren as well. She and Wendell made many trips to her favorite destination, Las Vegas, with Family and friends. In her free time, Sally enjoyed shopping and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sally is survived by her children-Wendi (Jerry) Greathouse, Kem Holmes, and Barbara (John Forney) Sager, all of Stevensville, Jeff Holmes of Meadview, AZ & Lane (Ronda) Holmes of Benton Harbor; six grandchildren-Tara DeHaven, Sharon (Victor) Brown, Veronica (Wes) Miller, Kimberly (Nathan) Pope, Joel (Abbi Jankowski) Holmes, Shawn Holmes; four great-grandchildren-Finn DeHaven, Jett Pope, Luke Holmes, Jake Holmes; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Wendell on July 18, 2013, her parents, and siblings-Fred Mooahesh, Florence Mooahesh, Kamel Mooahesh & Yeshra Azzam.
