A Benton Harbor attorney is planning a meeting for this month to explain to residents what’s been going on with lawsuits over the city’s water issues.

Elizabeth McCree says on social media she’ll hold “The Legal Hour” on February 22 online. She says she’s been collecting materials related to two water suits the city is battling due to its lead crisis from 2018 to 2021. The two cases are Braziel and Mitchell v. City of Benton Harbor and City of Benton Harbor v. Travelers Indemnity Company.

McCree says with The Legal Hour, she’ll walk viewers through “the current status in the state and federal courts including the pending litigation to get the city’s insurance company to pay the initially approved settlement and how the federal court is defining the class who would be part of the settlement funds.”

The presentation will be livestreamed over the Facebook page of McCree’s office, and also on its YouTube page at 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 22.
