Jeffrey Lee Finley, Sr., a current resident of Columbus, Georgia and longtime native of Niles, Michigan, peacefully transitioned from this life on January 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, strength, and enduring love. Born on August 23, 1949, in Niles, Michigan, he was the beloved son of the late Clarence June Finley and Kathryn Flint Finley, who preceded him in death following a tragic automobile accident in 1959.
Jeffrey was a devoted and loving father to Jeffrey Finley, Jr., Quentin Finley, and Nakiya Wakes, and was preceded in death by his cherished son, Anthony Wakes. He was a proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren and a joyful great-grandfather to six great- grandchildren.
For more than twenty years, Jeffrey shared a deep and meaningful companionship with his longtime partner, Demetrius Brewer. Their relationship was built on love, loyalty, and mutual respect, and their bond remained a constant source of comfort and joy throughout his life.
He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings: Nancy Waters, Sylvia Perkins, and Ackley King, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. A man of warmth and humility, Jeffrey found happiness in fishing, listening to music, playing dominoes, and spending quality time with family and friends. Known for his kind spirit and steady guidance, he was deeply respected and dearly loved by all who knew him.
Above all, Jeffrey treasured his family. His life was a testament to perseverance, compassion, and unconditional love. Though he has departed this earthly life, his influence will continue to live on through the generations he nurtured and the countless lives he touched.
A visitation for Mr. Finley will be held at Brown Funeral Home on February 7, 2026 from 9:30am till 10:30am, with funeral services beginning at 10:30am.
Jeffrey will be laid to rest at Silverbrook Cemetery following funeral services.
