
A 21-year-old man is dead following a shooting in Benton Harbor on Sunday.
The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety says officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 600 block of Columbus Avenue in the early morning hours and found the man injured.
The victim was treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to Corewell Health South Hospital in St. Joseph, where he later died from his injuries. His name has not been released.
Police say no suspect has yet been identified and the shooting remains under investigation. They do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the general public. The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety says it will maintain a visible presence in the area while the investigation continues.

The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety is being assisted in the investigation by the FBI Violent Crime Task Force, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, Benton Charter Township Police Department, St Joseph Department of Public Safety, and Michigan State Police.
