The Lincoln Township Board of Trustees has held off on approving a brownfield plan for a 200-unit apartment complex being planned along Red Arrow Highway.
Red Arrow Bluffs would be located at the site of the former Snowflake Motel, featuring six apartment buildings with rents ranging from $1,000 per month for a studio to $2,000 a month for a three-bedroom unit.
Developer Great Lakes Capital is seeking a brownfield tax increment finance plan to help recoup some of the $44 million investment. The township board was slated to consider approval of that plan Tuesday, but Supervisor Glenn Youngstedt tells us the matter was pulled for a future meeting so some questions could be answered. Specifically, trustees want to know more about the development’s community benefits package.
“It provides money for police and fire protection,” Youngstedt said.
So, should anyone be concerned about the future of the project?
“No, it’s just one of the little bumps in the road you run across.”
Youngstedt said the matter will come up again at a future meeting.
If all goes well, construction of Red Arrow Bluffs is scheduled to start in the spring. The first of six apartment buildings would be finished after about 12 months, with the rest of the buildings gradually reaching completion over the following several months.
