Michigan State Police are urging Michiganders to lock up their guns.
MSP First Lieutenant Mike Shaw says getting a gun lock to keep your family safe couldn’t be easier.
“We’ve been offering free gun locks to the state police post as far back as I can remember, and all you have to do is walk in, ask the desk sergeant for a free gun lock or two or three or whatever you need, and they will provide you those gun locks free of charge,” Shaw said. “If you’re not sure how they work, they’ll show you.”
Free gun locks are available at any Michigan State Police post
Shaw says children are the ones most likely to get ahold of an unsecured gun, and with more kids around during the holidays, it’s important to make sure all forearms are locked up.
