The village of Edwardsburg will soon have help identifying and applying for grant funding, thanks to new funding from the state.
The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity’s Office of Rural Prosperity this week announced eleven grants, totaling $509,000, going out to communities around the state to ensure they have the support needed to attract investment, create jobs, and foster growth.
Edwardsburg Village Clerk Sarah Overgaard tells us this grant will be used to hire someone for one year to work for the village and help secure grant funding, something that can be quite complicated and time consuming. She says the village is excited and hopeful get some help finding new funding. She added Edwardsburg is a tiny village in a much bigger township, and it can be challenging to find support for community projects.
The state says the Rural Readiness Grant Program aligns with Michigan’s commitment to ensuring all Michigan communities — regardless of size — have the tools needed to succeed in today’s economy.
