With the first heavy snow of the season hitting Southwest Michigan in recent days, Benton Harbor City Manager Alex Little says local crews have been doing all they can to keep the streets passable.
Speaking to city commissioners on Monday, Little said there was some grumbling about the state of the streets on Saturday and Sunday.
“I’ve heard some complaints about the condition of the roads,” Little said. “We’ve gotten out there throughout the weekend and tried to keep the roads passable, but we also tried to wait until there were periods where there were breaks because otherwise you’re wasting just to go through and it’s steadily snowing and piling up as fast as you do it.”
Little said when the city is getting an inch of snow per hour, there’s little its crews can do other than what they’ve been doing.
Little told residents the city will continue to do the best it can, noting the snow we had this past weekend was very heavy and difficult to clear.
