The Southwest Michigan Regional Airport will welcome a special guest this Saturday.
Airport Director Christopher Beckman tells us Santa will be flying in.
“He’s trying to check all his routes before Christmas so he can make sure his team are all ready to properly deliver presents on time to everybody,” Beckman said. “So he’s coming to the airport to check the route out. He’ll be there collecting letters and handing out some candy to anyone that comes to see him.”
Santa will emerge from a plane — not a sleigh — at 1 p.m.
“He’ll step right out of a plane. He uses the pilots to help save his reindeers energy so they don’t have to fly yet, so they can be ready for Christmas.”
Everyone’s invited to come out to the airport to meet Santa, give him their letters, and get some pictures.
Beckman says Santa has previously made visits to the airport, but this is the first time he’s done so in a few years. He’ll stick around long enough to meet with all the boys and girls who come by, and then it’s back to the North Pole for him to prepare for Christmas.
