WIRX to hold ‘Rock St. Jude Radiothon’ this Thursday and Friday

jude-2025

Coming up this Thursday and Friday, WIRX Radio will be putting on its first ever “Rock St. Jude Radiothon,” raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The radiothon has been done by Y Country Radio for years, but it’s now passed the torch to WIRX. Director of Content Kristen Havens, known on the air as Kiki with Brock and Kiki in the afternoons, tells us the team will take to the airwaves from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days to raise money for St. Jude, a world-renown hospital that treats childhood cancer free of charge to families from all over the country.

Every donation helps families get the care they need without worrying about the cost because I think we all agree people shouldn’t have to worry about what the treatments cost or if they can or cannot do it,” Havens said. “They should just be able to love their child and be there for their child and not worry about anything else.”

Over the years, Y Country has made a huge impact raising money for St. Jude, and Havens says the WIRX team is excited to take up the mantle.

We have seen that this community has been extremely generous for a smaller market area. Y Country and the community have raised in the past anywhere between $40,000 and $50,000. So it’s really incredible. We want to continue to support that effort here.”

There will be several ways to donate, whether online, texting, or by calling in. Kiki notes that for $19 per month, you can become a Partner in Hope, helping to save lives and find a cure.

That’s the “Rock St. Jude Radiothon,” all day this Thursday and Friday on WIRX. You can learn more at WIRX.com.
