An employee with Berrien Springs Public Schools is facing a charge of child seduction in St. Joseph County, Indiana.
42-year-old Scott Liggett was arrested on Monday on a warrant and lodged in the St. Joseph County Jail.
Berrien Springs Public Schools Superintendent Thomas Bruce sent a letter to district families on Monday saying, “At this point, we have no reason to suspect that any allegations involve any current or past Berrien Springs student.” Bruce says immediately upon learning of the allegations against Liggett, the district placed him on leave and removed him from all its buildings. The superintendent says the district has school counsellors and social workers available for all students if needed.
Court documents indicate the allegations against Liggett involve someone who knew Liggett for several years when he was vice principal at Mary Daly Elementary School in Elkhart. The alleged victim says he assaulted her when she was a teenager.
