Mother Annette Doss, age 75, of Benton Harbor, Michigan, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Benton Harbor to the late Mariah and Bose Williams.
Annette was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was the heart of her family. Known for her strength, kindness, and the unconditional love she shared with everyone around her. Whether through her warm smile, comforting meals, or gentle words of wisdom, Annette touched countless lives and left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Annette accepted Christ at a very young age. Annette was a faithful member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Daniel E. Cook. Mother Doss remained a humble servant as long as her health would allow-under the leadership of Pastor James O. Childs, serving on the Mother’s Board, in the Mission Department, and the Missionary Choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Doss; her sons, Lawrence Lewis Sr. and Reginal Lewis; her parents, Mariah and Bose Williams; and her siblings, Roxanne Williams, Sylvester Jordan, Dorothy Williams, and Doreitha Williams, Aunt Eula May Atcher, Niece Roxanne Jenkins; Nephew Donald Jenkins and Great Nephew Lenard Jenkins; and nephew, Antwan Williams.
Annette leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children: Sebastian Lewis Sr, Rosella Lewis, Robert Lewis, Corey Doss, and Patrica Doss; her sister, Naomi Jenkins; and several God-daughters, her cherished grandchildren: Sebastian Lewis Jr., Janelle Lewis, Sabrina Lewis, Lakeisha Lewis, Tracy Lewis, Lawrence Lewis Jr., Unique Lewis, Destiny Griffis, DaQuan Phipps, Mathew Griffis, Sekaycia Lewis, Selebrity Lewis, Kiya Lewis, Robin Lewis, Xavier Lewis, and Lavonte Lewis.
She was also blessed with 27 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members, all of whom she loved dearly and who will continue to honor her memory and carry her spirit forward.
Annette’s life was one of love, faith, and resilience. A woman of God, her faith anchored her family and strengthened all who knew her. Her memory will live forever in the hearts of her loved ones, and her legacy of compassion, devotion, and grace will continue to guide her family for generations to come.
