Bears 26, Saints 14 – Allen’s defense dominates against former team as Bears beat Saints 26-14 for 4th straight
Dennis Allen’s defense led the Chicago Bears to a 26-14 win over the New Orleans Saints, marking their fourth straight victory and giving Allen a satisfying result against his former team. Fired by the Saints midway through last season, Allen’s unit forced four turnovers, recorded four sacks, and intercepted Spencer Rattler three times as the Bears (4-2) matched their longest winning streak since 2018. D’Andre Swift ran for 124 yards and a touchdown, rookie Kyle Monangai added 81 yards and a score, and Caleb Williams threw for 172 yards despite an uneven performance. The Bears piled up 222 rushing yards and stopped an eight-game skid against New Orleans, which fell to 1-6 — its worst start since 1999. Chris Olave caught two touchdown passes for the Saints, but Chicago’s defense clamped down late to secure the win.

Colts 38, Chargers 24 – Jonathan Taylor scores 3 TDs and Colts beat Chargers 38-24 for NFL-leading 6th victory
The Indianapolis Colts earned their NFL-best sixth win with a 38-24 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, giving coach Shane Steichen an emotional triumph over his former team. Jonathan Taylor led the way with touchdown runs of 23, 8, and 19 yards while rushing for 94 yards on 16 carries, and Daniel Jones threw for 288 yards and two scores to Michael Pittman Jr. and Tyler Warren. The AFC South-leading Colts (6-1) jumped out to a 23-3 halftime lead, holding the Chargers to just 10 rushing yards before weathering a second-half rally. Justin Herbert threw for a career-high 420 yards and three touchdowns but was intercepted twice as the Chargers (4-3) dropped their third game in four outings. The win snapped the Colts’ five-game losing streak in Los Angeles and marked their first victory over the Chargers since 2016.

Blue Jays 6, Mariners 2 – Guerrero hits 6th postseason homer and Blue Jays beat Mariners 6-2 to force Game 7
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit his sixth home run of the postseason, rookie Trey Yesavage struck out seven in 5 2/3 innings, and the Toronto Blue Jays pushed the American League Championship Series to the limit with a 6-2 win over the sloppy Seattle Mariners on Sunday night. The AL pennant will be decided Monday night in Toronto, marking just the second Game 7 in Blue Jays history after their 1985 ALCS loss to Kansas City. For the Guerrero family, it’s also a milestone, as Vladimir Guerrero Sr. never played in a postseason Game 7 during his 16-year career. Seattle, the only big league team without a pennant, will play its first-ever Game 7, with the winner advancing to face the NL champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series beginning Friday. Toronto also became the first team in postseason history to induce consecutive bases-loaded, inning-ending double plays and only the fourth to turn two in a single playoff game.

NCAAFB – AP Top 25 gets an overhaul behind No. 1 Ohio State; Vandy is a top-10 team for 1st time since 1947
Vanderbilt is a top-10 team in college football for the first time since 1947 in an Associated Press poll that got a nearly complete makeover Sunday after a weekend when nine Top 25 teams lost. Ohio State was the only team to hold its spot, remaining No. 1 for an eighth straight week after shutting out Wisconsin 34-0 on the road.  Beyond the Buckeyes, significant revision was required with four top-10 teams losing in the same week for a third time this season. Nine Top 25 losing teams were the most since Week 5 in 2022, when 10 went down, according to Sportradar. Four of the losses this week were to unranked opponents. The Buckeyes received 60 first-place votes, 10 more than a week ago. No. 2 Indiana pulled away from Michigan State, improved its program-record ranking by one spot and got the other six first-place votes. Texas A&M’s one-rung promotion to No. 3 gives the Aggies their highest ranking since 1995. No. 4 Alabama has its highest ranking of the season and No. 5 Georgia returned to the top five after a three-week absence.

Red Wings 4, Oilers 2 – Larkin and Finne each score twice, lift surging Red Wings to a 4-2 win over Oilers
Dylan Larkin and rookie Emmitt Finne each scored twice as the surging Detroit Red Wings beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-2 on Sunday for their fifth straight win since an opening loss to Montreal. Edmonton dropped its third straight and fell below .500 as Connor McDavid’s career-long, season-opening goal drought reached six games. Detroit goalie John Gibson stopped 16 shots, including a key save on McDavid in the third period before stripping him of the puck moments later, while Edmonton’s Stuart Skinner made 21 saves. Leon Draisaitl had a late chance to tie the game but lost control of the puck, and Finne sealed the win with an empty-net goal.

Blackhawks 2, Ducks 1 – OT – Donato scores in OT, Blackhawks edge Ducks 2-1 in Quenneville’s return to Chicago
Ryan Donato scored from the edge of the crease at 2:58 of overtime and the Chicago Blackhawks beat Anaheim 2-1 on Sunday night in Ducks coach Joel Quenneville’s first game at United Center since being banned in a sexual assault scandal. The ban stemmed for the scandal involving his 2010 Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks squad that surfaced in October 2021. Quenneville was forced to resign as Florida’s coach, then banned from the NHL for nearly three years before taking over the Ducks in May. He won three titles in 10 years with the Blackhawks. Donato had his third goal in three games. Connor Bedard set up it from behind the net to cap a 3-on-1 rush. Frank Nazar also scored to help Chicago improve to 3-0-1 in its last four. Spencer Knight made 38 saves and was beaten only on Mason McTavish’s power-play goal from a sharp angle with 35.8 seconds left in the third period.
