Peter Richard Emanuel, affectionately known as Rick, passed away peacefully at his home in Eau Claire, Michigan, on October 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 70 years old.

Rick was born on January 18, 1955, in Millburg, Michigan, to Marion Francis Emanuel and Judy Mae Stolfo. He attended Eau Claire High School and proudly served his country as a United States Marine, stationed in Hawaii during the Vietnam War era.

After returning home, Rick married the love of his life, Christal Emanuel, on July 4, 1980. They chose Independence Day so they could celebrate their marriage with fireworks every year — a reflection of the joy and light they brought into each other’s lives. Together, they shared 45 wonderful years of marriage.

Rick and Christal were blessed with three children — Nicholas Emanuel, Ashley Emanuel, and Caitlin Emanuel — and five grandchildren through Caitlin: Sean, William, Benjamin, Arianna, and Lucas, who were the lights of his life.

Rick worked for many years at Vail Rubber in St. Joseph, Michigan. Outside of work, he loved being outdoors — whether it was target shooting, clay pigeon shooting with friends, or simply spending time surrounded by nature. A lifelong Star Trek fan, Rick was known for his humor, loyalty, and generosity. He was the kind of man who would do anything for anyone — truly one of a kind.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Judy, and his sister, Jackie Emanuel.

Rick is survived by his devoted wife, Christal; his children, Nicholas Emanuel, Ashley Emanuel, and Caitlin Emanuel; his beloved grandchildren, Sean, William, Benjamin, Arianna, and Lucas; and his niece, Deann (John) Shields.

At the end of his life, Rick and his family were blessed with the compassionate care and support of Hospice and a wonderful group of people from Caring Circle, who stepped in to help during his final days. The family would also like to acknowledge Christal’s loving dedication and strength in caring for Rick at home.

In keeping with his wishes, Rick will be cremated. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Rick will be remembered for his big heart, his love of family, and the way he made everyone feel welcome. His strength, laughter, and kindness will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
