A new event is coming to downtown St. Joseph this October.
St. Joseph Today Director Paul Knapp tells us to ensure there are activities in the area all year long, the new Downtown Spooktacular will be held October 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“We feel committed to inspiring programming 12 months out of the year and looked at October as a void in our annual calendar and thought it’d be a great opportunity to bring something similar to our Magical Ice Fest or the Chalk the Block,” Knapp said.
Knapp says the day will feature magic shows and more.
“We’re going to have a pumpkin patch with a decorating station, a Halloween market for farmers and artisans and other vendors to come and sell seasonal treats. We are excited for a costume parade down State Street where anyone can come dressed in their favorite costume.”
There will also be pumpkin carving demonstrations featuring artists who carve ice during the annual Ice Fest. And there may be more special activities as part of the Spooktacular — Knapp is still trying to find the right partner to make a few more things happen.
City commissioners this week approved St. Joe Today’s Special Event Application for the new fall festivity.
