The Michigan Flywheelers Museum’s 42nd annual Antique Engine and Tractor Show is set for next week in South Haven.
Flywheelers Museum President Pat Ingalls tells us the four-day event will feature parades, entertainment, activities for the kids, demonstrations, and of course, hundreds of old tractors. He says the event will kick off on Thursday night, September 4 with a cruise of antique tractors through town.
“About 4:30, I believe, this year we’re leaving and we drive into South Haven down to the beach and come back up and then have dinner in town and then come back and it averages about 70 to 80 tractors,” Ingalls said.
That evening will include a square dance. As the show continues Friday, they’ll have more than 800 pieces of antique farm equipment on site at the museum grounds, an outdoor flea market, working displays at the sawmill, and tractor pulls.
Ingalls says the show attracts as many as 10,000 people when the weather’s good.
“A lot of it’s that they grew up with that equipment and so they’d like to come and see restored and non-restored equipment that they remember.”
There will be live music both Friday and Saturday, along with karaoke. Saturday will be Kid’s Day at the show with games and a magic show. Also set for Saturday is a railroad track laying demonstration while the old House of David train runs around the track. And don’t forget the sweet corn that will be steamed by a tractor engine.
Gates for the show will open at 8 a.m. rain or shine each day, and admission will be $10.
