This past weekend’s Whirlpool Appliance Sale for the United Way of Southwest Michigan is being called another resounding success.
Whirlpool put up for sale hundreds of appliances at deep discounts on Saturday and Sunday, with all proceeds going to its employee United Way campaign. The United Way’s Zack East tells us they made a bundle.
“We had nearly 400 sales that were made and netted about $130,000 from this past weekend, which is just going to stay right here in the community,” East said. “So, it’s even better.”
In all, East says 812 items were sold. They included small appliances, major appliances, and Gladiator products. It takes a lot of help to put the sale on.
“There’s at least 50 volunteers, probably more than that, that helped us certainly throughout the months in putting this planning together. But the week of, we had a whole group of people that were doing a lot of work on the inventory floor, the sales floor.”
That included Whirlpool employees, United Way employees, and community volunteers.
If you missed out this past weekend, East says there will be an online appliance sale around the holidays. Anyone interested in following that can sign up for alerts at WhirlpoolApplianceSale.com. That’ll keep you in the loop about new developments.
