There will be plenty to do in downtown St. Joseph Labor Day weekend, even as the summer comes to a close.

St. Joseph Today’s Daniele Crevier tells us the Tri-State Regatta will be sailing in early on Saturday, August 30. The annual race is one of Lake Michigan’s premier events as boats sail into the St. Joseph Yacht Club from Chicago. Crevier says it’s a party that day.

The whole marina is full of sailboats, and the arboretum as well,” Crevier said. “It’s really, really fun to see if you go down that way. And then usually the yacht club has one of their big public parties that they open that weekend. So it’s always a fun time over there at the yacht club.”

Crevier says next Saturday will also feature the weekly Farmers Market, held from 9 to 2, and the Lake Bluff Artisan Fair from 10 to 5, both at Lake Bluff Park. And that’s not to mention the Krasl Art Center’s Summer Art Market on the Green from 10 to 5 on the Krasl grounds.

Crevier says Saturday, August 30 will also be the last day to visit the St. Joe Lighthouse for the 2025 season.

You can catch the last walking tour at 10 a.m. They meet at the top of the pier if you’re interested in learning a little bit more history about the St. Joe Lighthouse. Otherwise, we have open hours from 10 to 7, and that first floor of the exhibit is free to explore and check out. And then it’s just $5 a person if you want to climb all the way to the top for that 360 view.”

On Sunday, August 31 those who get up early can watch the Tri-State Regatta boats sail off toward Michigan City.

Crevier says although some summer events are coming to an end for the year, that doesn’t mean downtown St. Joseph won’t still have plenty going on heading into September. She notes the next Love Local Weekend will be September 19 through 21. That weekend will also include the return of Fall Fest on Saturday, September 20.
