
Daryl Thomas O’Brien, 49, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in Niles, Michigan.
Daryl was born on April 14, 1976, in Elizabeth Town, Kentucky, to Daryl Brown and the late Dawn (Hollimon) O’Brien.
Daryl was preceded in death by his mother, Dawn O’Brien; granddaughter, Aspyn Vanwinkle; maternal grandparents, Tom and Joan Hollimon; father-in-law, William Roger Horton, and brothers-in-law, Jeff Kuhn and Chris Lott.
Left to cherish the memory of Daryl are his children, Jacob (Ashley) O’Brien, Olivia O’Brien, and Nicholas (Bre) O’Brien; grandchildren, Caleb, Adonis, Adelina, and Kingsley; siblings, Melinda Pernestti and Michael O’Brien; wife, Dorothy Horton O’Brien; sisters-in-law, Andrea Cole Horton, Dustin (Jessica) Horton, Daniel Horton, Charity Horton Kuhn, Ashley (James) Weiberg, Hailey Horton, Alyssa Horton, and Christina Lott, and mother-in-law, Faith Horton.
Outside of his professional life, Daryl had a variety of interests that brought him joy. He was an avid gamer, especially fond of his Xbox, and delighted in sitting outside under the sun. Daryl loved going to the beach and enjoyed traveling, often spending time at the lake. He also shared his joy of sports by coaching his children in little league baseball and was a steadfast supporter of Notre Dame football.
Most importantly, Daryl found immense joy in his role as a grandfather. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Memorial contributions in honor or Daryl may be made out to Brown Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral costs.
Visitation for Daryl will be on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm with a Funeral Service to be held at 6:00pm at Brown Funeral Home, 521 East Main St. Niles, MI 49120.
