A group gathered at the Michigan Capitol Tuesday to honor victims of dangerous dog attacks in Michigan.

Leticia Spagnuolo of Fowlerville says they’d like to see stronger laws regarding dangerous dogs.

We’re trying to bring awareness to changing the laws regarding dangerous dogs in Michigan because there have been increased attacks,” Spagnuolo said. “There’s been maulings and deaths. There’s actually been four deaths since last August in Michigan from dog maulings.”

Spagnuolo says they planned to read the names of victims and ring a bill in their memory. She says about 40 people in Michigan have been killed by dog attacks since the early 80s.

Spagnuolo adds this is about all dogs, and not one specific breed.
