
There are no serious injuries following an apartment fire in Lincoln Township on Saturday.
The Lincoln Township Fire Department says it was sent to Fountainview Apartments on Red Arrow Highway just begore 9 p.m. on a report of a dryer fire. While on the way, dispatch advised that the fire had spread and that people were now trapped on the third floor.
Arriving crews were directed behind the building where they were able to rescue six people from a third story window. All of them were transported by Medic 1 Ambulance to Corewell Health for evaluation and are expected to be ok.
The majority of the fire was contained to the apartment of origin. However, all 12 units in the building suffered water and smoke damage, displacing all 12 families.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Departments that assisted on scene were Royalton Township Fire Department, Lake Township Fire and Rescue, Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety, Lincoln Township Police Department, and Michigan State Police.
